At the UCLA Center for the Developing Adolescent, we work to make the science of adolescent development useful and accessible to policymakers, youth-serving professionals, parents, and young people themselves, and to advocate for equitable policies, programs, and practices based on that science.
Our Co-Executive Directors are neuroscientist Adriana Galván, PhD, and psychologist Andrew J. Fuligni, PhD. We work closely with the National Scientific Council on Adolescence (NSCA), formed in 2019. The NSCA is a group of U.S.-based scientists with expertise in developmental science, social, affective and cognitive neuroscience, as well as clinical, educational, public health, cultural, and social perspectives on adolescence, with strong interests in understanding how social and emotional experiences shape development during adolescence.
